Description: The suburbs are a maze of wide streets, lined by houses with wide lawns. Inhabitants are voluntarily segregated by race with humans and halflings predominating. Houses tend to be a bit larger and more widely-spaced than in the city proper, but they also are hard to visually distinguish from one another. Streets are seldom in a straight line and names tend to be cute and/or repetitive. Parties that don’t have an exact address and good directions are likely to get lost.
Residents are materially wealthy, with many fine objects, though some are perhaps not as fine as they immediately appear, and the use or purpose of some of these objects may not be readily apparent, unless you were a suburban dweller in previous years when that object was all the rage. Homeowners will be posession-rich but gold-poor.
Residents usually know one another by sight if not by name, and tend to ride carriages everywhere, regardless of the length of the journey. Accordingly, a party of strangers traveling on foot will likely be regarded with suspicion if not immediate hostility.
Plot Hook: The party recieves a tip or a map that indicates a treasure-filled tomb lies under recently-built suburban houses. They must navigate the confusing tangle of streets to find the location and convince the new homeowners to let them investigate basements, alleys, vacant lots, and so on. And it’s quite possible that the residents of the tomb have already come up to meet their ne neighbors.
